THE ROARING TWENTIES: The Roaring Twenties were a period of rapid economic growth and social change. WW I had ended and for many Americans, the growth of cities, the rise of consumer culture, the upsurge of mass entertainment, and the so-called "revolution in morals and manners" represented liberation from the restrictions of the country's Victorian past. The decade brought profound changes in morals, dress, hairstyles, and gender roles, being remembered for huge growth in areas from artistic expression and popular entertainment to industry and even crime.
