The Novel

            

F. Scott Fitzgerald's third novel The Great Gatsby, published in 1925stands as the supreme achievement of his career and has been noted as one of the great classics of twentieth-century literature. It is the story is of the fabulously wealthy Jay Gatsby and his love for the beautiful Daisy Buchanan. His quest leads him from poverty to wealth, into the arms of his beloved, and eventually to death.  The Great Gatsby is an exquisitely crafted tale of America in the 1920s; a novel of triumph and tragedy noted for the remarkable way Fitzgerald captured a cross-section of American society.
